Welcome to CHIEF NATION! It is my sincere pleasure to have your child and family as part of the Carol City Middle School Family. Our vision is to be a community of believers who inspire one another to excel fearlessly, in a world-renowned safe-haven. Based on this vision, my commitment to you and your family is to create and maintain an environment that is conducive to lasting success – academically, socially and emotionally. There are many notable areas of progress including our reinstallation of the Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA), upgrades to our school facility, increases in student achievement and maintaining a school grade of a “C” for three consecutive years. While we are grateful for the tremendous improvements that we have made, we are really excited about the school year ahead of us. We continue to strengthen our academic academies and clubs including college dual enrollment. Additionally, we recruit and retain great teachers and staff to provide the best educational experience. We have additional plans to redesign several places in our school to afford students 21st century learning experiences built upon collaboration, connection and engagement. Our teachers will present culturally responsive curriculum, to include all learners, through innovation and collaboration. Students will engage in various project-based learning activities that build both hard and soft 21st century skills. Additionally, with support from our Instructional Coaches, City Year, and partnership with St. Thomas University, we are closing the academic gap for our students. Ongoing professional development is a top priority. All staff within the school will participate in Social Emotional Learning (SEL) trainings to learn best practices that educate the whole child. Classroom instruction reflects recent, research based, educational strategies and programs. We encourage all parents to participate and volunteer in many school activities and to also join and partake in PTSA functions. Our staff and students are wonderful, and we are blessed to participate in an outstanding learning environment. I am thankful and humbled to serve as Principal of Carol City Middle School. I look forward to an exciting and productive school year.
